	Are you wondering what will become of your 
	collections? 
	The collecting world is changing, the 
	market is changing and it’s time to stop worrying and start working on your 
	plans. 
	Bobbie Sumberg is a curator at the 
	Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, NM. 
	She has managed acquisitions both 
	large and small of textiles and African art for 13 years. She has also 
	trained in personal property appraisal. 
	She will provide both the 
	curatorial/museum and collection/collector perspective on this issue, both 
	for textiles and other kinds of artistic and ethnographic collections, along 
	with concrete suggestions on how to proceed while keeping the realities of 
	the market and museum world in mind. 
	Basic general tax and legal issues 
	will be discussed as well. 
	
	Bobbie Sumberg is currently the Curator of 
	Textiles and Costume and the Curator of African Art at the Museum of 
	International Folk Art in Santa Fe, NM. 
	In the 13 years she has held this 
	position, she has installed 14 exhibitions and negotiated major acquisitions 
	of African ceramics and iron work, Macedonian textiles and dress, and 
	Burmese textiles. She has an MA and PhD from the University of Minnesota and 
	conducted research for both degrees in West Africa. Her most recent books 
	are Young Brides, Old Treasures: Macedonian 
	Embroidered Dress and 
	
	Textiles: Collection of the Museum of International Folk Art. 
	Currently on display at MOIFA is her 
	exhibition titled 
	Plain Geometry: Amish Quilts. 
	She has completed the Core Course for Appraisal Studies through the 
	International Society of Appraisers.
